FIGHTER/GRAPPLER INFORMATION

MMA & MUAY THAI COMPETITORS INFORMATION:

ALL FIGHTER APPLICATIONS must be submitted by the Competitor or there authorized Coach/Manager.  You must contact and send all initial correspondence to the Matchmaking Department via email at matchmaker@oneworldmma.com .

Prior to contact you must be able to fulfill the following requirements:

  • Understanding that a FIGHTER APPLICATION must be completed and submitted to be eligible.  A Matchmaker will respond to your written request of the Application.  You will then need to complete and return the Application as soon as possible to be considered in any upcoming events.

    All Amateur Fighters, please proceed with the listed below requisites.
  • Obtain a National Mixed Martial Arts Identification Number from your Sports Authority or Commission in your respective areas prior to weigh ins.  The DC Boxing & Wrestling Commission is able to assist upon the day before event weigh ins if necessary.  If you are selected to compete, please advise your Matchmaker if you need assistance with obtaining an MMA ID#.
  •  Provide a ‘General Physical’ dated within 3 months of the event date, OR present a note from an accredited Doctor stating the Competitor is in good physical shape to compete.
  •  Provide a Basic Bloodwork Test including but not limited to (HIV, Hep-B, Hep-C) dated within 45 days of the event date.
  • Each Competitor must be with an established and reputable Fight Camp/Academy/Team, Independents will not be accepted.
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY, do not already be on our List of Fighters that are unable to Fight in the DC region.  No show-No Calls, Last-Minute Drop Outs, All Talk-No Training, and Bad Behaved-Bad Boys will not be accepted.  This is a professional sport to us, and we demand respect to both your fellow sports members and the fans that will witness your behavior in a OneWorld MMA cage.  There is no reason of this to be unachievable.  Lets show the world how orderly we can be in displaying our form of art, sports and culture.
GRAPPLERS [Gi & No-Gi] COMPETITORS

General Rules:

1.)    This is a SUBMISSIONS ONLY event.  There will be no points awarded to advance.  There is no time limit.  Referees will deem non-advancing competitors as a no-contest in the event both fail to continue in progressing in their match.

2.)    Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and violators will receive immediate disqualification followed by removal from the premises.  All violations will be reported to associations and sanctioning bodies’ thru-out the region.   Referees decisions are final and will not be overturned, nor will violators be refunded.

3.)    NO slamming allowed.  Illegal slamming is defined as slamming your opponents to escape submission and/or pass the guard; or  standing from the guard and/or jumping from a standing position to slam your opponent.  SLAMMING WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC DQ.
(NO EXCEPTIONS).  Takedowns are not considered slams, but must be done in a safer manner.

4.)    No striking, biting, eye gouging (includes chin to eyes), head butting, small joint manipulation (fingers and toe locks), hair pulling, grabbing the trachea (windpipe), or ear pulling is allowed.

5.)    No infectious skin diseases (ringworm, staph, and MRSA) or opened wounds will be permitted.

6.)    No lubricants, oils, or lotions of any kind will be permitted on any body part or clothing.

7.)    Competitors will be allowed to continue grappling anywhere on the matted area, provided they do not interfere with any another match. If competitors get near the edge of a mat, they will be restarted form the same position by the referee.  In case the referee is unable to duplicate the position, competitors will restart from a standing position.

8.)    If a competitor flees the ring when a submission is locked in and the competitor is obviously fleeing to avoid submission, he or she will automatically be disqualified.

9.)    Women will not be allowed to compete in the Men’s divisions; Men will not be allowed to compete in the Women’s divisions. Men 30 yrs of age and older may compete in the Adult or Elite division.

10.) In Teens matches, the referee has the discretion to call a match if the referee believes that a submission will cause immediate damage or injury, especially in the beginners division.

Grappling w/ Gi Rules

1.)    Heel Hooks, reaping knee, twisting knee locks, “flying scissors” takedowns, and neck cranks are NEVER legal. Straight ankle locks are ILLEGAL for all Teen divisions, but are LEGAL in all other divisions.

2.)    Knee bar, figure four toeholds, and compression lock (AKA “Slicers, Crushers”) are legal in Purple, Brown, and Black Belt divisions only.

3.)    Wristlocks and any submission below the waist are illegal for Teen divisions.

4.)    BJJ divisions require a clean, properly fitted Jiu-jitsu or Judo Gi. Mouthpieces and groin protection are required for Teens, Optional for Adults.

5.)    All competitors must compete in the rank awarded to them by their grappling Instructor.

 

Grappling No-Gi Rules

1.)    No grabbing of any clothing, including your own, will be permitted.

2.)    The only submissions below the waist in Beginner, and intermediate are straight ankle locks and straight knee bars.

3.)    All submissions are allowed in adult Men’s and Women’s advance divisions.

4.)    Neck Cranks, wristlocks, and any submission below the waist are Illegal in the Teen division.

5.)    Clean Grappling Shorts and Rashguard are required. Shorts must not contain any pockets, metal or plastic on the outside.  Mouthpieces and groin protection are required for Teens, Optional for Adults.

6.)    Anyone with a Rank of Blue belt MUST compete in the intermediate or higher, Purple Belts or higher MUST compete in advanced divisions.
